INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT PROCESS FOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAMS AT PUBLIC/STATE HOSPITALS

Students from the following Vocational School health programs who are required to complete a mandatory summer internship may apply through the Career Gateway National Internship Program, which is opened for applications each year:

Oral and Dental Health, Biomedical Device Technology, Pharmacy Services, Medical Data Processing Technician Training, Dental Prosthetics Technology, Anesthesia, Physiotherapy, First and Emergency Aid, Medical Documentation and Secretariat, Medical Imaging Techniques, Medical Laboratory Techniques, and Elderly Care.

Although the National Internship Program is an internship platform open to all students, it is particularly important for students in health-related programs, as it provides them with the opportunity to apply for and be placed in mandatory internships at public/state hospitals.

Since public/state hospitals do not accept interns through individual applications, students in health programs who are required to complete a mandatory summer internship are strongly advised to apply through the National Internship Program.

Application dates for the National Internship Program vary from year to year. Applications generally open in January and close in March. Once the application dates are finalized and institutions begin making internship offers to applicants, students will also be informed through the university’s announcement channels.

Students who receive an offer through the National Internship Program must also complete the required internship application procedures through the ArelKAM platform.

Students who would like ArelKAM to find an internship placement for them must select the “Let ArelKAM Find My Internship!” option on the Internship Preference Form. This option becomes active at the beginning of the academic term and remains available during specific application periods.

Students who select this option for a mandatory summer internship and have a GPA of 2.50 or above will be included in the internship placement process carried out by ArelKAM.

Placements will be made by ArelKAM by taking into consideration the students’ departments/programs and the requirements of the internship.

Students will be informed through ArelKAM’s announcement channels, including its Instagram account and website, about the dates on which the “Let ArelKAM Find My Internship Placement!” option will be available.

SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS THROUGH ARELKAM INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS

ArelKAM publishes internship opportunities offered by companies with which it has established partnerships on the “Announcements” section of the ArelKAM website for students who are required to complete a mandatory internship or Workplace Vocational Training.

Students may apply for these internship opportunities and, if accepted, complete their internships at the relevant companies.

ArelKAM provides support to all students in finding internship placements through these announcements.

In order to apply for the internship opportunities, students must log in to ArelKAM with their student accounts and submit their applications using an up-to-date CV.

INTERNSHIP PROCEDURES

After reaching an agreement with a company where they will complete their internship, students who will undertake either a mandatory or voluntary internship must register through the student portal at kariyer.arel.edu.tr.

After registering and logging in, students must complete their application through the “INTERNSHIP > INTERNSHIP APPLICATION” section.

All details regarding the internship application process are provided in the Internship Procedures Guide. Students can complete their internship procedures easily by following the instructions in the guide.

Internship Procedures Guide

As the final step of the internship process, students must submit a copy of the Internship Approval Form/Internship Agreement, duly approved and signed by the institution, bearing its official stamp/seal, to the ArelKAM office at least 10 working days before the internship start date.

Students who fail to submit the approved document within this period will not have their insurance procedures initiated. If they proceed with the internship despite this, the internship will be considered invalid.

MANDATORY INTERNSHIP / WORKPLACE TRAINING RULES

Students undertaking mandatory internships should carefully follow the internship rules in order to avoid any problems during the internship period.

All students undertaking a Mandatory Summer Internship/Workplace Vocational Training must complete all required procedures through kariyer.arel.edu.tr and submit a copy of the Internship Approval Form/Internship Agreement, duly approved, stamped/sealed, and signed by the institution, to the ArelKAM office at least 10 working days before the internship begins.

Internship insurance coverage is valid only for the start and end dates specified on the Internship Approval Form/Internship Agreement. Therefore, internships cannot be undertaken outside these dates. Any internship completed outside the specified dates will be considered invalid.

Students undertaking a Mandatory Summer Internship/Workplace Vocational Training are not entitled to unexcused absences during the internship period.

Absence is permitted only in cases of compelling health-related circumstances, provided that the student submits an official medical report issued by a fully equipped state hospital.

In case of medical leave, a maximum of 20% of the total internship period may be covered by a medical report. The absence must be reported to ArelKAM, and the days missed due to medical leave must be added to the end of the internship period. The student must complete the internship for the number of days missed.

Students must complete at least 7.5 hours of internship per day. Half-day attendance does not count toward the internship period.

Internships cannot be carried out on Sundays or official public holidays. Any internship conducted on such days will not be accepted.

Students undertaking a Practical Course or Workplace Vocational Training during the academic term may not attend their internship/practical training on days when they have classes or examinations.

A Mandatory Summer Internship must be completed for at least five full weekdays per week.

If the company where the internship is carried out operates for a full day on Saturdays, students may also undertake their internship on Saturdays.

However, students attending summer school courses may combine summer school with their internship provided that they complete their internship for three full days per week.

INTERNSHIP LOGBOOK SUBMISSION PROCESS

An internship logbook is provided only to students undertaking a Mandatory Internship/Workplace Vocational Training, and completing the logbook is compulsory.

Students who have completed the internship procedures can access the internship logbook prepared in their name through the “Internship Status” section of kariyer.arel.edu.tr.

Students undertaking a mandatory internship must complete the internship logbook fully and have it approved in full by the authorized representative of the company.

For a Mandatory Summer Internship, the internship logbook must be submitted within two months from the internship completion date.

For Workplace Vocational Training, internship logbooks must be submitted during the final examination week.
